I tend to work best with people who prefer someone straight-forward, warm, and participatory. If you don’t know what kind of therapeutic fit would be best for you, that’s okay, too. A phone conversation is usually a good place to find out whether we’d have success working together.
I’m a licensed psychologist (CA PSY33148) who practices with adults, couples, adolescents, and children from a psychoanalytic perspective. In my practice, I find it important to think about the whole of a person, including identity characteristics such as personal and familial aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, ability, age, religion, immigration, and adoption, among other issues. I enjoy working with people with diverse identities and concerns in life. If you’d like to learn more about me as a potential therapist for you or a loved one, I recommend giving me a call or reading what I have written on this blog.
In addition to practicing as a psychologist, I enjoy teaching, supervising, mentoring students in the dissertation process, and non-profit work. I am the current President and Chair of continuing education for Wright Institute Los Angeles’s Alumni Board, where I trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and act as a faculty member and clinical supervisor to therapists in training. Another volunteer position I hold is as Co-chair of the committee responsible for hosting Los Angeles County Psychological Association’s psychotherapist-as-artist virtual gallery, Mirrors of the Mind. I am also a faculty member at Reiss-Davis Graduate School, educating students pursuing a doctorate of psychology in psychodynamic child and family psychotherapy.
I have a background in experimental psychology and neuroscience from Grinnell College. Before becoming a psychologist I was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs and a business management consultant with Blue Beyond Consulting. I am passionate about exploring and protecting the natural world, improvisation, expressive arts, and experiential learning.

I am very proud to supervise Charlotte Pradié, M.A., AMFT, APCC in her private clinical practice. Charlotte brings curiosity, warmth, and thoughtfulness to her practice and is a wonderful addition to the field. Additionally, if working with me is cost-prohibitive, Charlotte offers therapy at more affordable rates.
