What happens in therapy?

One of the things that happens is that we get to pay attention to your subtle feelings and put words to them. We might make connections, identify patterns, or become curious about something taken for granted.

The kind of therapy I like and think is helpful is the kind that tries to understand what your feeling experience is telling you about the world and helps you make meaningful decisions about what to do then. Being able to articulate what we are experiencing can help us with important tasks like making/maintaining relationships and directing self care.

Oftentimes during the process of meeting and talking about your life, we will bump into your unmet needs. Becoming familiar with unmet needs can give your life experience more clarity and help you live your life more intentionally. Emotions that have been long-avoided can be met, registered, and responded to.
